There is a symbolic volunteers subscription fee (50€) to join the Katelios Group turtle project for the new year 2013. A receipt is given on the volunteer arrival day.
Volunteers have to pay for all their expenses, which include accommodation, food, travel and personal insurance.
Accommodation expends of the volunteers is :
- Three hundred fifty euro ( 350€ ) per month and per room (basement) share to between two (2) volunteers in the area which undertaken the turtle project.
- Six hundred fifty euro ( 650€ ) per month and per room share to between two (2) volunteers in area which undertaken the turtle project.
Katelios Group only provides the volunteers with the list of the land owners which had express interest to rent their rooms about and is under volunteer choice the final decision for the accommodation places. Volunteers could deal with the land owners for better prices.
The minimum stay is one month, due to the training that volunteers need in the beginning.
You should also budget some money for all your personal expenses. You may be able to change traveller’s cheques in some shops in Skala (3km from volunteers accommodation), but they will take a commission. There are also 2 ATMs in Skala. There are bank machines in Argostoli (50km). However, you should come with at least some Euros in cash.
