Δεκάδες χελωνάκια, παραζαλισμένα από τα δυνατά φώτα ενός παραλιακού εστιατορίου στην Ιταλία, αντί να κάνουν την παρθενική τους βουτιά στη θάλασσα, εισέβαλαν κάτω από τα τραπέζια των έκπληκτων συνδαιτυμόνων του καταστήματος.
Το περιστατικό συνέβη στην περιοχή της Καλαβρίας και οι ειδικοί αποδίδουν τον αποπροσανατολισμό των 60 μικρών χελωνών στο δυνατό τεχνητό φως.
Οι θαλάσσιες χελώνες φτιάχνουν τη φωλιά τους σε αμμώδεις παραλίες και τα μικρά τους, μόλις βγουν από το αυγό, κατευθύνονται στη θάλασσα που είναι το φωτεινότερο σημείο μέσα στη νύχτα.
Τα θαλάσσια ρεύματα μεταφέρουν τα μικρά χελωνάκια από την παραλία στο ανοικτό πέλαγος, όπου θα παραμείνουν μέχρι να ενηλικιωθούν.
Οι Αρχές που κλήθηκαν να αντιμετωπίσουν την ασυνήθιστη «εισβολή» στο ιταλικό εστιατόριο, απελευθέρωσαν όλες τις μικρές χελώνες στη θάλασσα.

Tens of newly hatched sea turtles, "lost" due to the strong lights of a restaurant by the beach, instead of heading towards the sea in their maiden journey, arrived under the tables of the surprised diners.
This happened in Calabria, Italy. Specialists believe the hatchlings lost their bearings due to the strong artificial lights of the restaurant. Sea turtles nest in sandy beaches and the hatchlings head towards the sea as this is the brighter spot in the horizon during night time.
Sea currents carry the hatchlings from the beach to the open sea, where they remain until they grow up.
The authorities, who were notified to deal with the unusual "intrusion" to the Italian restaurant, took all the hatchlings to the sea.
