Hello!

I visited the education evening back in 2007 with my dad while we were on holiday in Katelios.
My mum and I are thinking of returning for a week or two and would like to know if it is possible for us to help with the hatchlings? I understand the hatchling season runs august to september, but we also have the option of coming in june when the mothers are laying - cost dependant.
We are both big walkers and regularly partake in at least 10 miles a day.

Would you please be able to advise on this?

Thanks,
Sophie

I support the environmental centre and today sent this email to the local mayor:

Dear Mr Parisis,

I have lived on the island since 1991 and have introduced many tour operators to this island.
I work with a tour operator who has 7 villas on contract in Katelios. One of the main points of interest in the Mounda Katelios area is the presence of Caretta Caretta and apart from the environmental issues, it is a great marketing point for tourism highlighting the fact that our turtles return to Kefalonia every year because of the wonderful sandy beaches. It is a simple and beautiful message.

I have heard that the local environmental centre is having problems staying opening. I am not aware of all the issues involved but please let me know what I can do personally to help keep this vital centre open and for the volunteers to continue their excellent work?

Is that possible that the council wants to close down the environmental centre? How can that be?

If you want to close them down, what alternative programme is in place for the protection of the endangered marine wildlife?

Please can you respond to those people who care about the turtles with a positive and definitive statement regarding the future of environmental protection on this island?

I look forward to your response with interest.

Hi,

I am 52 years old and am planning to go to Sri Lanka in November to help with the turtle project there. My children have their own plans for summer and I have just read about your project with interest.
I am not that fit but not that unfit for my age - love walking and need to get out of London and do something for myself. I am really interested in perhaps coming over and helping you. I teach English as a Foreign language particularly to children and would be very happy to do this as part of my experience as well as assisting in the project.
I would feel a little odd sharing a room with someone younger and wondered if you had the facility for me to have a single room? I would be considering coming out in July or August this year. I love cooking so that may be of interest. I would love walking on the beach and doing the night shift. I love life, adventures, new experiences and adore children, being a mother myself. I really want to give something back and spend some time away from London.
Not sure if you need anyone with my experience or age - I am pretty fit for 52 and have a great sense of humour and tolerance. I also adore Greece and the sunshine.

Let me know what you think and get back to me when you can.
With kind regards
Caroline
